The town of Vail began selling its manhole covers in 2002 to help thwart thefts of the real ones, which were custom-designed and installed to commemorate Vail’s 40th anniversary. Manhole jewelry was developed in response for those looking for a slightly more elegant Vail memento.

Red Sky Golf Course features two championship golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Greg Norman. The courses are separated by a massive ridge, which serves as wildlife migration corridor for deer and elk. Great care was taken to preserve the natural landscape, including transplanting or re-vegetation of more than 25,000 native plants during the construction of the Tom Fazio golf course alone. Approximately 80 acres of sod was applied to each course, reducing the amount of fertilizer necessary for seed grow-in, which protected the nearby Eagle River from silt erosion, which common when seed is used.

The Country Club of the Rockies on-going commitment towards improving the Jack Nicklaus Signature design golf course results in it being consistently ranked one of the top courses in Colorado by Golf Digest. Major improvements are accomplished with the approval and guidance of Jack Nicklaus and Nicklaus Design. The course opened in 1984 to rave reviews. The links-style design has rolling terrain with water coming into play on 11 holes, and four holes play along and across the Eagle River.
